Line-Weight & Bridge Calculator
A stencil only works if its lines are thick enough to survive transfer or cutting and its islands are bridged so they don't fall out. Pick your application and finished size for recommended weights.
Recommended line weights · 10 cm
Material: Thermal stencil paper (e.g. Spirit Classic)
Settings: Print or trace at 100% scale, mirror the image, solid black lines.
Why line weight matters
Lines below roughly 0.5 mm tend not to transfer or cut cleanly — they break up, clog, or lift. Outlines carry the shape, internals divide regions, and detail lines add texture; each wants its own weight. Closed shapes like “O” and “A” need bridges so their centers stay attached. See the full numbers in the settings cheat sheet.
Let the app do the bridging
StencilIQ converts your artwork to a clean, auto-bridged stencil at the right line weight — no manual tracing.
